Mikel Arteta has agreed a new three-year contract with Arsenal.
The 42-year-old’s previous contract was due to expire at the end of the season and he had been linked with a moves to both Real Madrid and Barcelona.
However, Arteta has now ended all speculation over his future by signing a new deal with Arsenal which will keep him tied to the club until 2027.
Speaking about his future in the summer, Arteta told CNN: ‘In football it’s about what we’re going to do today and what you hopefully can do tomorrow.
‘[In] this profession having this uncertainty is quite helpful. At least, it motivates me, keeps me on my toes, and it keeps me hungry to go again.
‘We have a great relationship with everybody at the football club. I’m really happy where I am and things will take care of themselves.’
