Arsenal are keen on signing the Girona defender Yan Couto at the end of the season.

The 21-year-old Brazilian full-back is on loan at the Spanish club from Premier League giants Manchester City and he has been linked with a permanent exit from the English club this summer.

According to Fichajes, Arsenal are keen on securing his signature this summer and manager Mikel Arteta has expressed an interest in the defender. Arsenal need to bring in a specialist right back and the 21-year-old could prove to be a quality long-term investment.

Couto has established himself as a key performer in La Liga and he has two goals and 10 assists in all competitions. His numbers are likely to improve when he’s playing in a better team alongside better players. Arsenal could bring out the best in him.

A move to the North London club would allow him to compete for major trophies as well. It would be a major step up in his career and the Brazilian defender is likely to be attracted to the idea of joining Arsenal.

He is unlikely to get regular gametime at Manchester City and therefore a permanent exit this summer would be ideal for all parties.

Can Arsenal beat Man United in the race to sign Yan Couto?

Manchester United are keen on the player as well, and the Red Devils need an attacking full-back like him. He could prove to be an upgrade on Aaron Wan-Bissaka at Old Trafford. It will be interesting to see if Arsenal can beat their Premier League rivals in the race to sign the defender.

Couto will want to join an ambitious club in the summer and the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United are some of the biggest clubs in the world. He will be tempted if they come with an official proposal at the end of the season.
