“Mentally, we will say that I am doing well. I’m not happy with this situation, but the only thing I can control is my work in training. I have to be ready when needed. I try to be in the best possible shape (…) I have been in this situation before and I have always come out of it successfully. I think that will still be the case today.” At the beginning of October, Milan Škriniar spoke without tongue in cheek about his complicated situation at PSG during a press conference organized on the sidelines of a gathering of the Slovak national team.

Since this media release, three starts in Ligue 1 against relatively modest opponents, namely Strasbourg, Angers and Toulouse. For the rest, the former captain of Inter Milan ultimately played more with his national team than with PSG, especially since Luis Enrique did not make him play a single minute in the Champions League. Suffice to say that it’s expensive per minute played for a player with an astronomical salary which peaks at €10 million net per year!

PSG is not going to sell off Milan Škriniar… who does not want to cut corners on his comfortable salary

So, what to do with the very bulky Milan Škriniar? The Juventus option is obvious, at least for the Turin club which is looking for an experienced defender, even more so since the serious injury of Gleison Breimer, out for the rest of the season. As we revealed to you a month ago, an agreement had even been reached between Juve and the player, and negotiations with Paris had already started. The Parisian club then demanded a large sum from the Italians, who wanted to include different players to facilitate the operation.

Nothing has changed since. It must be said that PSG does not intend to make the slightest financial effort to facilitate the exfiltration of its very expensive defender. For his part, the latter is feverishly awaiting the winter transfer window, but does not intend to draw a line under his comfortable salary either. The Galatasaray option is therefore not the priority for the Parisian defender and as it stands, it is hard to imagine the Turkish club paying the entire salary of PSG n°37.

Like Chancel Mbemba at OM, Milan Skriniar could thwart PSG’s transfer window plans. Luis Campos, who is working to recruit a central defender, Abdukodir Khuzanov (Lens) and Ilya Zabarny (Bournemouth) in particular, will have to deal with this thorny equation. Without forgetting Presnel Kimpembe, also sidelined in central defense and for whom the contenders are not jostling at the gate. In Paris, even more than elsewhere, the winter transfer window promises to be complicated and full of twists and turns…
