Mina Shirakawa is excited to wrestle “The CEO” Mercedes Moné.
At AEW x NJPW Wrestle Dynasty, RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Champion Mina Shirakawa will face NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion Mercedes Moné in a title-for-title match. As Moné previously pointed out, this is not the first time she and Shirakawa have generally met. It is their first encounter in the ring, however.
“A match with Mercedes Moné is something I have dreamed about for a long time,” Shirakawa said in a STARDOM press conference (H/T Proresu-Today for the transcription). “I met her as a friend when I was in my previous company. When she first came to Japan, I attended her through a mutual acquaintance because we could speak English.
“Since then, she has called me her friend and we have become good friends. But when she came to Japan (at the Yokohama Arena), she had the IWGP Women’s Title match. I had a white belt fight, and I had a fight with Mariah May at AEW, so we didn’t have much of a chance to be in the same ring.”
Moné won the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship with a victory over Stephanie Vaquer at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. Meanwhile, Shirakawa claimed the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship after defeating Dani Luna at RevPro’s 12-year anniversary show in August. Recently, Shirakawa vied for the AEW Women’s Championship, but fell short to the reigning titleholder Mariah May.
