MJF comments on the possibility that he could have gone to WWE.

MJF has become one of AEW’s top stars dating back to the launch of the company. He had a lengthy run as the AEW World Champion before he lost the gold at AEW Worlds End.

After he missed a few months due to injury, he returned at AEW Double or Nothing. There, he addressed his contract status and made it clear that he was not leaving. Given MJF’s star power, he has often been linked to WWE, but he is set to stay with AEW for the foreseeable future.

As noted by Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, MJF “recently signed” a long-term extension with AEW. Barrasso notes that MJF “weighed out” the option of going to WWE and acknowledged that it was a possibility.

“Of course there was,” he said. “Am I going to get into the weeds? No. At this point in time, this move made the most sense for me.

“I’m making a ton of f—— money. As far as when the contract ends, that’s nobody’s business but my own.”

MJF is set to speak on the June 5 episode of AEW Dynamite. WrestleZone will have coverage of the show as it airs.
