Olivier Giroud crossed the Atlantic to join Los Angeles FC this summer, attracted in particular by the advice of his former teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Olivier Giroud has been playing for Los Angeles FC in the United States since this summer. The French striker has signed a one-year contract with the MLS club, until June 2025.
The former AC Milan striker has reunited with Hugo Lloris, his former teammate and captain of the national team, at the Californian club. Visibly satisfied with his choice, the Chambéry native revealed that he had spoken with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the current advisor of the Lombard club, with whom he briefly played in the Rossoneri colors.
“He told me I was going to have fun.”
The former Parisian, who played for the LA Galaxy between 2018 and 2019, gave him his opinion on the North American championship. The Swedish giant praised the North American championship, highlighting its style of play that favors attackers.
“Zlatan, when I told him I wanted to play for LAFC, told me: ‘Yes, in MLS you’re going to have fun, it’s a good league for attackers, because it’s more open, there’s more space. And you can have more chances to score goals'”Giroud told reporters.
And the 2018 world champion added: “He was happy for me because he really enjoyed his years in MLS, on the bad side of LA, but still. No, joking aside, he gave me advice and told me I was going to have fun,” he concluded.
