New champions will be crowned at MLW Azteca Underground.

Major League Wrestling announced that the MLW World Tag Team Championship had been vacated, and new champions would be crowned at MLW Azteca Lucha on May 11. The announcement comes in response to CONTRA attacking Tom Lawlor and Davey Boy Smoth Jr., the reigning champions, at MLW War Chamber II on April 20.

After the attack, Lawlor was sent to the hospital, and MLW stated that he had suffered severe injuries. According to the announcement, the injuries would prevent Lawlor from defending the titles in the obligated window, so league officials convened with the championship committee, and the group voted to vacate the titles.

MLW announced that a “sudden death World Tag Team Championship bout” would crown new champions at MLW Azteca Lucha. The competitors in the bout will be revealed imminently.
