The Egyptian striker has repeatedly raised eyebrows in recent weeks with his public statements regarding his contract situation. Salah, who rarely faces the media, has twice expressed his disappointment that Liverpool have yet to offer him a new contract.
Sources close to the transfer matter have since cast doubt on Salah’s comments, saying discussions with his agent Ramy Abbas have been ongoing for months. Instead, his comments are seen as simply a tactic to pressure the club into forking over the money he is demanding.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the sticking point regarding his new contract is not, as has been claimed, the potential length of his lease but rather the salary and the time Liverpool are taking to take his deal seriously.
According to The Athletic, Salah would even be ready to accept an extension of just one year to his expiring contract, but he is increasingly “ exasperated » by the fact that the Reds are dragging their feet.
Salah will not join PSG
In recent days, rumors have surfaced that PSG are taking a close interest in Salah’s situation, given that he will be free to negotiate with the Paris region club in January.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi is known to have a good relationship with Salah and PSG are not entirely happy with their current offensive options. However, according to Ben Jacobs, there is not much basis for this rumor.
PSG deny they are in negotiations with Salah and there is a feeling his agent is using the French giants as a way to pressure Liverpool into picking up the pace.
There has been no contact with Salah’s camp and PSG are not considering bringing the 32-year-old to the French capital.
