Mohamed Salah, the very good news

The recovery of injured Mohamed Salah appears to be progressing satisfactorily. The Liverpool player has indeed returned to the field after leaving the Egyptian camp during the CAN.

The Reds striker came under heavy criticism from his home country after leaving the Africa Cup of Nations to continue his rehabilitation on Merseyside. In his absence, Egypt only reached the round of 16 before losing on penalties to the Democratic Republic of Congo. With his country eliminated and all four trophies at stake at club level, Salah will be eager to get back into action – and has hinted his return may not be that far away.

Very promising for Salah

The update will be a huge boost for Jurgen Klopp, who is still targeting an unprecedented quadruple in his final year in charge of the club. Liverpool’s players, no doubt motivated by the prospect of a ‘last dance’, have done well in Salah’s absence. Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota, in particular, have progressed, meaning Egypt’s ‘return of the king’ will add firepower to an already red-hot Liverpool forward line.

Egypt’s elimination from the AFCON means Salah does not have to worry about his international commitments, but Klopp hopes his star striker will be back as soon as possible. Liverpool have a chance to win their first trophy in the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea in February, and it is believed Salah will be back in time for that encounter.
