Mohit Ramchandani’s ‘City Of Dreams’ Adds Former Presidential Candidate Vivek Ramaswamy & Colleen Camp As EPs

EXCLUSIVE: Former Republican presidential candidate and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy is making his first foray into Hollywood joining veteran actor and producer Colleen Camp as EPs on director Mohit Ramchandani’s City of Dreams.

The movie, inspired by true events, follows a young boy from Mexico who is trafficked across the border and sold to a sweatshop in downtown Los Angeles. The movie touches upon the current border crisis and the exploitation of migrant children in the supply chain of American corporations. Roadside Attractions, as previously announced, has set a Aug. 30 theatrical release.

New York Times Bestseller and speaker Tony Robbins, five-time Latin Grammy Winning Singer Luis Fonsi (“Despacito”), Songwriter’s Hall of Famer Linda Perry, Academy Award Winning Producer Michael Phillips (Taxi Driver, The Sting, Close Encounters of the Third Kind), Academy Award Nominated Actress Yalitza Aparicio (Roma), Director Luis Mandoki (When a Man Loves a Woman, Innocent Voices, Message in a Bottle), IHEART Latino President Enrique Santos, and Actor Thomas Jane all serve as EPs on the film that was produced by Sean Wolfington (Sound of Freedom) and editor Matt Diezel (Now You See Me, Red, Time Travelers Wife).

Writer and Director Ramchandani, who was born in India, and whose own father worked in a sweatshop after being exiled from Pakistan during the 1947 partition of the former British territory, has his own fascinating story relating to the hope and inspiration of City of Dreams.

“After my mother passed away a few years ago, I decided to invest her life insurance policy to make this film, as no one else would invest the money. It was a way to honor both of my parents, but never in a million years did I think that the film would be supported by so many extraordinary leaders, talented artists, and icons of film and music, from different sides of the aisle,” said Ramchandani. “Like me, Vivek is of Indian heritage and has a deep humanity and love for this country. And Colleen is a queen of Hollywood whose work I have admired my whole life. This film isn’t about politics, and I personally don’t lean left or right, I lean into using my art to be of service to storytelling and humanity. I am humbled by Vivek, Colleen and everyone who has been moved by this film and who want to bring awareness to the issue of children that have been sold into slavery in America and to pursue a collective mission to rescue them.”

Ramaswamy recently bought a minority stake in media company BuzzFeed. Camp is the star of such movies as Apocalypse Now, American Hustle, The Deliverance now on Netflix among several others. Her producer credits include Knock Knock, Wayward and Day of the Fight among several other titles.
