Author of a flamboyant last season, Youssouf Fofana is one of the players who is shaking up the summer market. With a growing rating and a versatile profile, he has continued to attract covetousness, especially in Italy where almost all the Serie A teams have been mentioned in the rumors alongside him: “My future, I spoke about it with the leaders, it’s not a secret. We have an agreement to move towards this new stage. If it doesn’t happen, I will do this last season in Monaco. I hope that everyone will be a winner this summer. I’m not thinking about it at the moment, I have a very good sports entourage who take care of that. It’s not my job, I’m going to concentrate on what I know how to do, the field“, the French midfielder said in a press briefing with the Blues during Euro 2024. It is no secret that his future is written further and further away from Monaco.

“There were good opportunities for him to leave last summer. It was his decision to stay because of his personal goals. It was a very good decision for us, he had a very good season, probably his best season at AS Monaco. He is probably one of the players we are ready to sell. We will see what opportunities he has. It is still too early to make a decision.”said Thiago Scuro, the sporting director of AS Monaco, about Youssouf Fofana last May during a major end-of-season press conference. After long months of negotiations, AC Milan, which has always seemed to be the most active club on the matter, is not far from reaching an agreement with the French international midfielder.

Manchester United in talks with Monaco, Atletico Madrid have made an offer to Fofana

Now, the hardest part begins for the Lombard club, which must now find common ground with AS Monaco. And the positions are now very far apart between what AC Milan wants to put in and what the club from the Principality expects. The club from the Rock wants to maximize on Youssouf Fofana’s very good last season and also his great appearances with the Blues to get the biggest envelope. In this sense, the Monegasque management is asking for nearly 35 million euros to sell the French midfielder. With several interested clubs, AC Milan will have to be careful of its competitors who are still as active on the Fofana file.

Indeed, according to our indiscretions, Manchester United, who are in discussions with AS Monaco, have recently made contact with the player’s entourage without making a contractual offer to Youssouf Fofana. For comparison, Atlético de Madrid, more determined than ever to go for the former Strasbourg player, have indeed submitted an offer to the 25-year-old French international. The next few days are therefore set to be decisive for the future of the French international midfielder, the great instigator of AS Monaco’s great end to the season and who we were able to see in a few matches with France at the Euro in Germany.
