At AEW’s Worlds End on Dec. 28, AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Moné faced off against Kris Statlander in a rematch from Full Gear. Moné did retain but it wasn’t easy.

Statlander’s tenacity went through Moné trying to get the win at anyway possible. This included trying to get a count out win and even trying to make Statlander submit. Finally, Moné would get the win with a sneaky pin.

This match makes history as it is the longest women’s match in AEW’s history. No match had previously made it to 20 minutes and this match lasted 24 minutes and 35 seconds. Prior to this, Moné vs. Statlander at Full Gear had the longest women’s match for the promotion at 19 minutes and 25 seconds.

The AEW Women’s World Title was defended as well at Worlds End.

Mariah May defended her title successfully against Thunder Rosa in a Tijuana Street Fight. The final moments saw May throw dirt from the grave into the eyes of her opponent. With Rosa blinded, May hit a piledriver off the apron and through a table to score the victory.

This match had it all from tequila to a piñata full of thumbtacks. Even Papa Rosa was involved.

After the match in a backstage promo, May asked where the women’s division is at. She sees it as just herself, a party of one.
