More troubles for Barcelona: Another key player likely to miss the start of the new season

Barcelona have received troubling news as the 2024/25 season approaches. According to Mundo Deportivo, key defender Ronald Araujo might miss the start of the campaign due to his recent muscle injury.

It must be noted that Araujo was injured during a match against Brazil. He left the field in pain and tears, suffering from a muscle injury. The next day, as he exited the hotel, he was seen limping, which was not a good sign. 

Although detailed medical tests are still pending, early estimates suggest that Araujo could be sidelined for six to eight weeks.

If this timeline holds, Araujo faces a challenging recovery period. Not only will he have to forgo his vacation to focus on rehabilitation, but he will also miss Barcelona’s pre-season tour of the United States and the initial LaLiga matches. 

Initially, he was scheduled to join pre-season training after a three-week break following his participation in the Copa America. However, this injury has altered those plans significantly.

Matches that Araujo can miss

Barcelona’s La Liga campaign kicks off on Saturday, August 17, at Mestalla against Valencia. Even in the best-case scenario of a six-week recovery, Araujo would not be ready for this match.

If his recovery takes the minimum estimated time, he might return for the following week’s game against Athletic Club in Montjuic or the match against Rayo three days later. 

However, if his recovery extends to the full eight weeks, Araujo would not be back until after the September international break, potentially returning for the game against Girona on September 15.

More troubles for Barcelona

This situation presents a significant challenge for Barcelona, as Araujo is a crucial part of their defence. His absence at the beginning of the season means the team will have to find ways to cope without him. 

Right now, Barcelona must strategise and prepare to start the season without one of their key players. Although they will receive compensation for his loss, the loss of a key defender will likely have an effect.

As the new season draws near, all eyes will be on Araujo’s recovery. His return to the field will be eagerly anticipated by everyone associated with Barcelona. Until then, the team must focus on their preparations and hope that Araujo can make a speedy and successful comeback.
