Morocco – DR Congo: the video that compromises Regragui and clears Mbemba

The duel between Morocco and DR Congo degenerated on Sunday evening. Chancel Mbemba clashed violently with Walid Regragui.

Hooked on the field, the Morocco – DR Congo clash was also so outside. And not just a little. As soon as the final whistle of the match was blown, there was a big scuffle with Chancel Mbemba and Walid Regragui as the main protagonists.

Mbemba shocked by Regragui’s remarks

Many consistent sources suggest that the Moroccan coach had harsh words towards the Olympique de Marseille defender. A gratuitous provocation and one that the coach half-heartedly admitted, declaring at a press conference that he should not have behaved as he did.

This version was confirmed by the Congolese player. In the mixed zone, Mbemba made it known that he had nothing to reproach himself for and that it was Regragui who disrespected him. “I didn’t believe those words could come out of a coach’s mouth. What he said ? It’s his turn to speak.” he insisted.

Mbemba also indicated that he was in possession of a video which confirms his version of the facts. “I’m not perfect, but when I’m on the pitch I respect everyone. Respect must be reciprocal. I respect their coach. I have the videos of what happened but I don’t want to give up. I glorify God and keep my silence. It’s better. Everyone knows Chancel and I respect everyone. But there is divine justice.”

Regragui denies accusations

Strong statements to which Regragui could not remain indifferent. At the end of the evening, he reacted in an intervention for L’Equipe: » I didn’t like it because it insinuates a lot of things. So if he has images other than those we see on television, let him release them, with pleasure. And he’ll see exactly what happened. And this is what happened… Before I went to shake his hand, he attacked me and my assistant on the sidelines before the end of the match, he spoke badly to us. And Desabre knows it. And in the end, despite that, I’m going to shake his hand to also say: “But why are you talking to me like that? »And then he looks away, like “I’m not shaking your hand”. I held his hand, you can see it in the images, and he started screaming in every direction. I told him: “You tell yourself! » And he said to me: “You called me an idiot! » It’s okay that he heard that, even though I never said it, but by speaking the way he did, he’s implying that my comments are racist, it’s dishonest . Since he only talks about religion in his speech, he should be a little honest with himself. »

As for the Moroccan players, we tried to calm things down following these unfortunate incidents. Captain Romain Saiss set an example by calling on everyone to return to better feelings and forget this disastrous post-match.
