Morocco manager Walid Regragui has provided a positive update on Noussair Mazraoui’s well-being following a heart scare.

At Villa Park last weekend, Mazraoui was substituted at half-time during Manchester United’s scoreless draw with Aston Villa. The 26-year-old underwent minor a minor heart procedure as a result.

The 26-year-old underwent the procedure after experiencing palpitations.

A source at Manchester United said: “This is a relatively common condition and Noussair is expected to make a full recovery and be available for selection within the next few weeks.”

While harmless in most cases, Mazraoui will receive treatment to check if there are any underlying heart conditions to worry about in the future.

It is for the best that Mazraoui will take the next few weeks off from playing football to rest.

Morocco coach Regragui claims Mazraoui is not suffering from a dangerous illness and he should be available to play for his country for the next international break in November.

As quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Regragui said: “Noussair Mazraoui is not suffering from a dangerous illness.

“We hope he will be with us in the next camp in November.”

It remains to be seen how many weeks Mazraoui will be missing, but the news comes as a blow because he has been performing well at right-back for United since he joined the club in the summer.

Mazraoui left Bayern Munich in a deal worth an initial €15m and has played 10 matches so far this season.

It is worth noting that Mazraoui previously suffered heart issues. A month after testing positive for COVID during the 2022 World Cup he was diagnosed with a mild inflammation of the pericardium, the membrane surrounding the heart.
