7 This was a BOLD choice, and we are here for it!
During Tuesday’s national prayer service held at the Washington National Cathedral, Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde told President Donald Trump to his face to “have mercy” on LGBTQ+ and immigrant communities!
As Perezcious readers know, on his first day in office, the Celebrity Apprentice alum signed a ton of executive orders attacking those very marginalized communities, including one that demanded the US would only recognize two genders: male and female. While none of this was particularly shocking, it was incredibly disheartening and frightening for so many.

But while gathered in the church of all places, this Bishop did not hold back! During the service, Mariann told the convicted felon and his fellow politicians, including Vice President JD Vance who was sitting near him:
“In the name of our God, I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. […] There are gay, lesbian, and transgender children in Democratic, Republican, and Independent families, some who fear for their lives.”
She continued:
“The people who pick our crops and clean our office buildings, who labor in poultry farms and meat packing plants, who wash the dishes after we eat in restaurants and work the night shifts in hospitals, they — they may not be citizens or have the proper documentation. But the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals. They pay taxes and are good neighbors. They are faithful members of our churches and mosques, synagogues […] and temples. I ask you to have mercy, Mr. President, on those in our communities whose children fear that their parents will be taken away and that you help those who are fleeing war zones and persecution in their own lands to find compassion and welcome here.”

Saying that in front of the new administration – as they’ve made their opinions on this VERY clear – takes guts. Mad props to her!
Trump’s reaction on the other hand?! Disgusting! He managed to keep a pretty straight face — his resting frown, per usual — as he listened to the first half. Melania Trump and JD, as well as other family members, kept eyeing him to see what he thought, though.
It was during the immigration talk, however, that he IMMEDIATELY looked annoyed AF!! At one point, he looked off into the distance with his mouth open then glanced around the room as if this wasn’t worth his time at all. Ugh! See (below):

We guess it’s better than him storming out, but damn. We’re in for a long four years… That said, viewers were happy to celebrate the little victory, commenting:
