In Mustafa Ali we trust.
Ali debuted in TNA in 2024 and won the X Division Championship in his debut match at No Surrender. He left the promotion after a feud with Nic Nemeth, but returned to TNA TV last week. After interrupting Mike Santana’s in-ring segment, Ali said he signed with TNA and shared his mission statement. He said there is work to be done and TNA needs great leadership, and he’s that great leader.
TNA confirmed it signed Mustafa Ali to a new contract on Wednesday morning. Ali explained his decision to return in a new interview with The Takedown On Sports Illustrated‘s Jon Alba. Ali says TNA was the right fit for him and believes the company provides a great platform for him.
Mustafa Ali explains why he chose to sign with TNA
“TNA was the right fit for, me, and I was the right fit for TNA,” he said. “As you know, in wrestling in general and the industry of entertainment, sometimes it’s right place, right time, but it’s got to be for both parties,” the former X Division Champion said. “I absolutely love what the industry is today. I love that one roster has several options, several big time options to go make big time money, and not just the wrestlers. I’m talking about medical staff, producers, people behind the scenes, even people that cover the the industry. There’s so much to do that, if you’re not successful somewhere, it’s it’s really on you.”
“I felt like TNA was going to provide me with a platform to creatively really expand, some of these other organizations, I don’t want to say ‘bottleneck,’ but there’s a certain process there,” Ali said. “The one thing that I really enjoyed about my previous stint at TNA is that if I wanted an answer, if I wanted to do something, if I needed a ‘yes’ or ‘no,’ I knew who to talk to and I would get that answer within minutes.”
Ali did not share the terms of his new contract. However, he said that he plans on competing for the company’s world championship, currently held by Joe Hendry. Ali said wrestlers in other companies might stay in a certain division, but TNA gives him an opportunity to get in the main event scene he covets.
He also believes he could be a face of the company, calling himself the “epitome of a professional” and “one of the best performers in the world.”
