Pau Victor, Barcelona’s summer signing, has opened up about the emotional moment he found out he would be joining the club permanently.

His first reaction was to cry, a mix of joy and disbelief, and he celebrated this monumental move by having dinner with his family.

Victor had a standout preseason for Barcelona, where he truly made his mark. During his debut against Manchester City, he scored a crucial goal, and in the clash against Real Madrid, he netted a brace.

His performances in both matches earned him the MVP title, making the summer of 2024 unforgettable for him. It was a remarkable period that started with training at Girona before the official announcement of his move to Barcelona.

Victor always wanted to come to Barcelona

Speaking to Barça One, Victor shared his thoughts on his early days at the club. Reflecting on the transfer, Victor said,

“I always wished to come back here, but it wasn’t in my hands. There were several factors at play,” the forward was quoted by SPORT

He revealed that his agent kept him on standby, telling him to be ready for a call at any moment. “I was on holiday, but always near my phone.”

When the moment finally arrived, Victor recalled how nervous he was. He had just finished training with Girona when his agent informed him that Girona had approved the move to Barcelona.

Unable to hold back his emotions, Victor admitted, “My first reaction was to cry. My partner and I hugged, and I immediately called my family. It was a special moment for all of us, so we went out for dinner to celebrate.”

Victor’s thought on Hansi Flick

After the emotional high, the striker knew he had to focus on proving his worth to manager Hansi Flick.

“He told me he was happy to have me in the team and that he trusted me. It was a brief conversation, but we are still getting to know each other.”

The preseason tour in the United States allowed Victor to build that trust. He describes that week as one he will never forget.

His mindset was clear: to prove himself and solidify his place in the team. Despite initially fearing that he might not be up to the task, Victor quickly gained confidence. “It was a great week for me, especially in terms of building belief in myself,” he concluded.
