Sulaimon Adekunle, also known as KS1 Malaika, is a musician from Fuji who has responded to and corrected stories regarding the passing of his mother, Alhaja Rukayat Mojirayo.
On Tuesday, KS1 Malaika used his Instagram page to refute the rumors, stating that while he and Azeez Malaika are connected by blood, they do not have the same mother.
Sharing a picture of his mother, he stated, “She is alive and healthy,” and urged bloggers to verify information before publishing.
He captioned the post, “My mother is alive, well, and healthy. Continue to live in good health, my mum. #AZmybloodnotthesamemother.”
This clarification came after Azeez Malaika posted a tribute to his late mother on Instagram, which led to widespread confusion.
Azeez who is Malaika’s cousin had shared an image of a lit candle alongside a photo of his mother on Monday night, writing, “I never knew you would leave without saying goodbye, mother.
“The most painful part is that you left when I was not around. Unquestionable God. Rest well, mother.”
The post quickly circulated, with many assuming that KS1 Malaika’s mother had passed away.
This prompted KS1 Malaika to clear up the misunderstanding and specify that it was Azeez’s mother who had died.
Azeez is known by many as “Aburo Malaika” due to their close relationship and in line with Yoruba tradition.
Malaika’s mother will be celebrating her birthday on September 9.
