Open world builder game My Neighbor Alice (MNA) has been confirmed as the first MMO to launch on Chromia’s mainnet. When the beta season of MNA commences in September, it will provide Chromia users with access to the first massive multiplayer online game operating on the scalable blockchain network.

The launch of MNA’s beta season, designed to grow the Alice community, roll out new in-game features, and provide opportunities for earning token rewards, is a major leap forward for one of the longest-running web3 games. But it’s not just the playing experience that will be heightened: the infrastructure will also be improved thanks to its utilization of the Chromia mainnet which launched in July.

Chromia Sets Its Stall Out for Web3 Gaming

Web3 game developers are now blessed with a panoply of options when it comes to choosing which network to house their blockchain assets and functions. Alice’s decision to use Chromia appears to have been influenced by the network’s novel architecture, which efficiently handles data through the use of relational tables, resulting in much more efficient data indexing. This capability is particularly valuable when engineering web3 games in which blockchain elements must be implemented without degrading the playing experience.

Developed by highly experienced blockchain company ChromaWay, Chromia is designed to support a new wave of decentralized applications that incorporate smarter logic, modular components, and more efficient use of data. This is complemented by seamless connectivity to the broader multichain ecosystem through EVM bridging, allowing assets and liquidity to flow freely.

While the launch of former Binance Project of the Year My Neighbor Alice is a boon for Chromia, it’s also good news for MNA and its loyal community. Rolling out more onchain functionality feeds into a broader goal of fully decentralizing My Neighbor Alice and allowing it to benefit from inheriting the characteristics with which blockchain is synonymous.

Creating a Virtual World for Digital Natives

My Neighbor Alice has found product-market fit through creating a game that’s hit the sweet spot between fun and competition; social interaction and solo building; traditional gaming and web3. It’s taken a slow and steady approach to developing its MMO game over the last three years, focusing on building a community and gradually adding features.

In the build up to My Neighbor Alice’s beta season, an $ALICE Airdrop Party is also being hosted that enables players to earn tokens and exclusive NFTs for completing various tasks. The campaign should increase anticipation for the launch of the beta season, when regular players will be able to explore a host of new features and improvements.

Forthcoming upgrades to MNA will extend the use cases for native assets, represented as NFTs, while allowing the game to transition to a fully onchain model that is no longer reliant on centralized points of failure. Its launch on Chromia will showcase the sort of use cases its scalable blockchain can support while allowing My Neighbor Alice to introduce powerful new features to strengthen its internal economy and allow regular players to earn greater rewards.
