Nantes still joined by Saint-Etienne

It is a draw which does not advance either Saint-Etienne or Nantes, but which at least allows the two teams to avoid restarting a direct opponent. The two teams therefore parted back to back (1-1) at Geoffroy-Guichard, and as in the first leg the Canaries led by the score before being caught.

In a very poor first period, with two unfortunate shots on each side, Antoine Kombouaré's men were more effective. Matthis Abline missed a first goal ball, but Moses Simon immediately punished the poor recovery of his former teammate Dennis Appiah (0-1, 14th).

Boakye's missile

During the second act, Saint-Etienne therefore reacted, helped by the Canaries who had not come to play (25% ball possession). After a terrible miss from young Djyilian N'Guessan (16 years old), it was the hero of the first victory of the Hormeland era, Augustine Boakye, who equalized with a missile from afar, out of the reach of Anthony Lopes (1-1, 87th).

With this point, Nantes and Saint-Etienne remain in the same positions (15th and 16th), but come back to Rennes, temporarily six points ahead of Le Havre and Montpellier.
