Antonio Conte’s baptism of fire in Naples ended in a bitter failure in Verona. Aware of the gravity of the situation, the Italian coach fully assumed his responsibilities.

Antonio Conte did not have the expected start with Naples. Away on the pitch of Hellas Verona this Sunday, the Partenopei suffered a heavy defeat (3-0) against the Venetian team.

This bitter setback has already damaged the fans’ trust in the Italian coach. Despite everything, the former Tottenham coach wanted to make his mea culpa after his team’s disappointing performance.

Conte apologizes to fans

“I am the coach, I have to take responsibility, our performance in the second half was unacceptable. At the first difficulty, the team melted and I find that serious,” he admitted.

“(…) Those who know me know that my heart is bleeding today, and I hope that it is also the case for the players. We must humbly apologize to the Neapolitan people who follow us with passion”said the Lecce coach at a press conference.

Conte and Naples will have the opportunity to make up for it this Sunday against Bologna, on Matchday 2, in the hope of restoring their image.
