The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure and Imose Technologies Ltd have partnered to launch a new line of made-in-Nigeria laptops and tablets tailored for Nigerian consumers.
This development was disclosed in a Monday statement by the Deputy Director of Information at NASENI, Chima Akwaja.
The 14-inch NASENI Zedon X-Pro laptop is equipped with a Core i5 processor, offering a combination of power, portability, and practicality.
Alongside it, the 10.5-inch tablet is designed to balance functionality and portability, making it suitable for tasks such as document editing, video streaming, and gaming.
According to the agency, the device aims to cater to a diverse audience, including students and professionals seeking reliable computing solutions.
This initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises local content development and collaboration among economic players to stimulate economic growth.
By producing these devices locally, NASENI aims to enhance job creation and support Nigeria’s technology sector, reinforcing its commitment to fostering indigenous manufacturing capabilities.
The Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, Khalil Halilu, said the partnership is “a strategic move which aligns with the Agency’s 3Cs principles of Collaboration, Creation and Commercialization to work with like minds. This is why we are working with Imose Technologies to bridge the technological gap by reducing importation bills.
“We are transforming the Agency by making it a central player in Nigeria’s technology revolution by adopting, adapting, and domesticating cutting-edge technologies. At NASENI, we are building a national brand that is going forward, every household in Nigeria will have one NASENI product or the other,” Halilu added.
The Chairman of Imose Technologies, Osayi Izedonmwen said, “For ten years, we have had a relentless focus on solving uniquely Nigerian problems by championing the local manufacturing of mobile and computer devices to improve lives and transform local institutions.”
Speaking further, “We are proud that NASENI has chosen to partner with us for the domestic production of laptops to bridge the digital divide and improve access to technology for education and work.
