EXCLUSIVE: Hollywood Squares, the classic game show, is coming back to television with Drew Barrymore as its famed center square.

The CBS show, which will launch in January, has now found its host. Nate Burleson, who co-hosts CBS Mornings, will lead the show, which will air on Wednesdays after The Price Is Right at Night and Raid The Cage.

Burleson has been with the CBS morning show since September 2021, when he joined Gayle King and Tony Dokoupil. He’s also a studio analyst for the network’s NFL coverage, having spent 11 years in the league as a wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions.

The news was announced by CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach at a Deadline-moderated panel at the Banff World Media Festival.

Hollywood Squares involves two contestants who play tic-tac-toe to win money and prizes. The “board” for the game is a vertical stack of open-faced cubes, each occupied by a celebrity seated at a desk and facing the contestants. The celebrities are asked questions and the contestants judge the legitimacy of their answers to win the game.

Hollywood Squares is produced by Jesse Collins for Jesse Collins Entertainment and Drew Barrymore for Flower Films.

The original show aired on NBC in the 1960s. The series piloted in 1965 and debuted in its entirety on the same network in 1966.
