The Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base Escravos on Wednesday deactivated four illegal refining sites at Obodo in Omadinho community, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.

Speaking on the operation, the Commanding Officer of FOB Escravos, Navy Captain Ikenna Okoloagu, stated that the crackdown followed credible intelligence.

“The sites were laden with about 2,500 litres of stolen crude oil and 2,200 litres of illegally refined AGO contained in five ovens, 11 dug-out pits, and 25 polythene sacks,” Okoloagu revealed.

He warned those engaged in oil theft and economic sabotage to desist, as the base remains committed to denying them freedom of action and ensuring their prosecution.

“The Nigerian Navy’s fight against crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and other acts of economic sabotage bore fruit once again on 26 February 2025,” he said.

“The successful operation, which was in support of the ongoing Operation Delta Sanity II, underscores our commitment to eliminating all forms of illegalities within the maritime environment.”

Okoloagu reaffirmed the Navy’s unwavering dedication to implementing the Strategic Directives of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral EI Ogalla, aimed at securing Nigeria’s maritime resources.
