The Niger Delta Development Commission has pledged a strategic partnership with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.

The NDDC Executive Director of Corporate Services, Ifedayo Abegunde, stated this when the Chairman of the NIPR, Rivers State Chapter, Mr Francis Asuk, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the NDDC Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, at the Commission’s headquarters in Port Harcourt.

This was contained in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Tuesday by the NDDC Director of Corporate Affairs, Mrs Seledi Thompson-Wakama, and sent to newsmen.

Ogbuku, who was represented by the Executive Director of Corporate Services, highlighted the importance of reputation management and the critical role the NIPR plays in maintaining a positive national image.

He pointed out that a well-managed reputation could attract international investments, while a negative image could deter potential investors. The Executive Director of Corporate Services encouraged the committee to formalise its partnership proposal with the NDDC.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the NIPR Rivers State, Mr Francis Asuk, said the delegation was at the NDDC to discuss the upcoming NIPR 2024 Week.

He noted that the image managers were focusing on the theme: “Rebuilding National Reputation through Business Integrity and Public Trust.” Asuk observed that the upcoming NIPR Week would not be complete without the participation and sponsorship of the NDDC.

He emphasised the relevance of the programme’s theme and stressed the crucial role the NDDC could play in enhancing the relationship between the oil-rich Niger Delta region and the Federal Government.

The NIPR Chairman expressed confidence that the NDDC’s involvement would significantly contribute to rebuilding the nation’s reputation.

He expressed satisfaction that the meeting was highly productive, with Abegunde showing a strong interest in forming a strategic partnership between the NDDC and the NIPR.

Both parties acknowledged the potential of collaboration to foster trust and strengthen the nation’s global image.
