NDLEA, Kano community groups partner to combat drug abuse

In a proactive move to tackle drug abuse in Kano, the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency has established partnerships with key community groups, including the Rano Apex Development Association, Rano Ce A Gabanmu Development Association, and the Rano Emirate Council.

This collaborative effort is to address the growing menace of drug abuse in the state.

Kano State NDLEA Commandant, Ahmed Ahmed, highlighted the need for collaborative efforts to combat drug abuse during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Rano, Muhammad Umaru.

He highlighted the growing concern of substance abuse and the importance of joining forces to address disturbing trends.

Speaking on behalf of the commander, Muhd. Kabir, Area Commander for Rano, Bunkure, Kibiya, and Garko, emphasized, “We’re committed to curbing the alarming abuse of Fortwin injections and marijuana in the Rano axis. This partnership will boost our efforts to prevent drug abuse and support rehabilitation,” he said.

Kabir added that the agency is planning to build a rehabilitation Centre in Rano local government, as well as a pre-election free drug awareness campaign which is in the pipeline for successful conduct of the forthcoming local government election.

In his remarks, the Emir of Rano, Muhd Umaru, promised to support the agency in its drive to rid the community of escalating drug abuse issues.

Zonal Information Officer Rano, Rabiu Khalil Kura in a statement, said the visit was to strengthen the existing relationship between the NDLEA and the Emirate, fostering a united front against substance abuse in Kano State
