Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu on Saturday pledged to secure the release of all remaining hostages and eliminate Hamas following the return of three captives in severely weakened condition.
The hostages—Eli Sharabi, Or Levy, and Ohad Ben Ami—were handed over to the Red Cross in Deir el-Balah, central Gaza, on Saturday after being held for 16 months.
Images of their frail appearances sparked outrage in Israel, reinforcing calls for military action against the militant group.
In a strongly worded statement, Netanyahu condemned Hamas, declaring that “their blood is on their heads” and accusing the group of abusing captives.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to securing the release of all remaining hostages, emphasising that Israel would not cease its efforts until every prisoner was returned.
“We have once again seen what the Hamas monsters are. They are the same monsters who slaughtered our citizens and abused our captives,” says Netanyahu as reported by The Times in Israel.
The prime minister also revealed that US President Donald Trump fully supports Israel’s stance, stating, “We will do everything to return all the hostages, but Hamas won’t be there. We will eliminate Hamas, and return all our captives.”
As part of an ongoing ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement, the Israel Defense Forces are preparing to withdraw from the Netzarim Corridor in central Gaza.
Meanwhile, medical teams have reported that Levy and Sharabi arrived in “poor condition,” suffering from severe malnutrition and lack of medical care.
