When Netflix revealed it was moving into live boxing earlier this year with a fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, it didn’t realize it was going to take so long.

The fight was originally scheduled to take place on July 20 but was postponed until November as a result of an ulcer issue from former heavyweight champion Tyson.

The move, however, means more time to follow the pair for a docuseries leading up to the event.

The streamer has unveiled it will air Countdown: Paul Vs. Tyson, a three-part follow-doc on November 7, ahead of the fight airing live on Friday November 15 at 8pm ET. The first two episodes will air that night followed by the third episode on November 12.

The documentary series will take viewers behind-the-scenes of Paul and Tyson’s respective training camps ahead of the event. It will also follow he lead up to one of the most anticipated women’s fights in history, the rematch between undisputed super lightweight champion Katie Taylor and unified featherweight champion Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano.

Paul started his boxing career in 2018 with a fight against Deji Olatunji and his professional debut was in 2020 against AnEsonGib. Over his ten professional fights, against the likes of Ryan Bourland, Andre August and Nate Diaz, he has won nine and lost only once, via a split decision against Tommy Fury.

The fight is organized by Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), which was set up by Paul and Nakisa Bidarian.

Tyson, meanwhile is the former undisputed world heavyweight champion and one of the most legendary boxers in the world with a 50-6 winning record. His last professional fight was in 2005 against Kevin McBride and he fought Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition match in 2020.

The series is produced by EverWonder Studio, exec produced by Ian Orefice and Michael Antinoro and directed by Tim Mullen and Jackie Decker.
