A gritty display from Manchester United earned them all three points against Ipswich Town last night.
Indeed, the five-goal thriller ultimately swayed in the Reds’ favour after they were able to complete a full turnaround to win 3-2. What’s more impressive is that Ruben Amorim’s side did so with only 10 men following Patrick Dorgu’s first-half dismissal.
While United remain firmly in the bottom half of the table – having only moved up to 14th place on Wednesday night – it’s that kind of resilient showing that fans had been desperate to see this season. Rather than the players losing their heads following an early opener and conceding four or five, they took their chances via set pieces to poke their noses in front.
Moreover, the 10 on the pitch were well under the cosh for the majority of the second half, defending a narrow one-goal advantage thanks to Harry Maguire’s contribution in the 47th minute. Yet, they held their ground and matched the Tractor Boys man for man, allowing for a collective sigh of relief from those on the pitch, in the dugout and the stands, come the full-time whistle.
Leny Yoro hailed for stellar defensive display

As such, United’s centre-halves received credit for their efforts – despite conceding two goals on the night. One Red, in particular, was singled out for praise, as Samuel Luckhurst said on X/Twitter: “[Leny] Yoro has probably had his most accomplished performance tonight. Looked good playing on the front foot.”
The defender played 89 minutes before being replaced by Victor Lindelof. He made six clearances and one tackle and recorded a 95 per cent passing accuracy throughout his 89 minutes on the turf, as per Sofascore.
Next up for Amorim and his men is a fifth-round FA Cup tie at home to Fulham on Sunday afternoon, with kick-off penned in for 16.30 GMT.
