Olympique de Marseille are still looking for a centre-forward who will succeed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Since Arsenal seem too greedy for Eddie Nketiah, the Phocéens are now on the trail of Elye Wahi.
According to L’Equipe, OM is in fact in discussions with RC Lens to try to recruit the former Montpellier player. The player, himself, has agreed to relaunch in another Ligue 1 club, and he has already found common ground with the Marseille leaders for the outlines of his future contract.
When Wahi didn’t want OM
There is, however, a small problem. The fact that Wahi had a mixed (but far from bad) season with Lens is not a problem. It is rather an old statement, dug up by social networks, that is setting the cat among the pigeons. A few years ago, France Bleu Hérault asked the French U21 international which jersey he would never wear. The answer came quickly: “Marseille”. “It’s a certainty”, added the native of Courcouronnes, in Essonne.
Of course, some supporters don’t want him. And this is somewhat reminiscent of the controversy that preceded the signing of Mason Greenwood, even if the “facts” alleged are completely different.
