New recruit at Barça, the pharaonic transfer

In recent years, FC Barcelona has become used to looking for the best free market players because of its precarious financial situation.

Eric Garcia, Ilkay Gundogan and Andreas Christensen arrived free from any contract from Premier League. In recent months, Jonathan Tah, of Bayer Leverkusen, seemed to be the last free player to join the Blaugrana, but this prospect is now questioned.

Tah decided not to renew his contract with Leverkusen and, after an unsuccessful attempt to recruit him last summer, Bayern Munich abandoned the race for the German international. Real Madrid was expected, but Barcelona became a favorite and, according to several sources, concluded an agreement with Tah.

However, the green light is less clear. As Sport reported, Ronald Araujo's extension of contract in January, hiring him to the club until 2031, upset the situation, and the arrival of Tah is now uncertain. Iñigo Martinez and Pau Cubarsi will stay next season. Eric Garcia achieving great performances, the departure of Christensen will probably not be enough to convince Barcelona of his recruitment.

Barça and Flick retreat to this transfer

The Catalan daily explains that Barcelona will soon be around Tah to take stock of the situation, after weeks without contact, but the situation is considered cold. Tah was willing to delay his decision to see if Barcelona could accelerate his recruitment, but due to the situation of his central defender and the limitation of wages, it is unlikely that the club will give the green light before the summer. Tah will now start to study the other offers he has.

It seems that the future of Araujo is also decisive for Tah: if the Uruguayan remains, it seems unlikely that Tah signs.
