New Western Regional Minister Joseph Nelson assumes office

The new Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, assumed office on Tuesday, 11th February, and appealed to staff and heads of ministries, departments, and agencies working with the Western Regional Coordinating Council (WRCC) to carry out their duties with the overall interest of the nation in mind."

He emphasised that they must have Ghana's interests at heart as they serve the nation with commitment and passion.

He stated that service to the nation remains the cardinal principle binding all public servants working together and that the commitment to offer the best service must be upheld.

"Let me indicate that there is one thing that binds us all, and that is service to this dear nation of ours," he remarked.

According to him, regardless of the role, duty, or function of the staff, what matters most to Ghana and Ghanaians is the ability to shoulder the responsibility assigned to them with the commitment required to produce results.

"Whatever service you are offering, and what I am going to offer, will be centered on the welfare of the people," he noted.

"So, this morning, it is just a reminder that whatever we have been doing up to this time, I have come to reinforce it so that we are better able to deliver the service that will improve the lives of the people of the Western Region, much, much better than it is now. That commitment is what I am bringing on board, and that commitment is what I seek from you so that together we can work to uplift the image of the Western Region," he emphasised.

Addressing staff and heads of departments at the Western Regional Coordinating Council (WRCC) as part of his maiden meeting, the Minister also assured the heads of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) of his readiness to lead the body as Chairman.

Joseph Nelson interacted with the staff after the officials to assess the challenges they face in their operations.

He subsequently engaged with the media in the region and assured them of a positive working relationship, describing it as a collaborative effort to address the challenges facing the area.

He said that the main objective of President John Dramani Mahama’s administration is to work diligently to improve the welfare of Ghanaian citizens.

In his case, he said he would represent the President to the fullest and encourage everyone working and living in the Western Region to play their roles in championing the region's development objectives.
