New Zealand – France, the pre-match
With six points gained
against the United States and Guineathe French men’s football team is well on its way to validating its ticket for the quarter-finals of the Olympic tournament. It will have to finish the job this Tuesday evening, at 7 p.m., against New Zealand, in Marseille.
Thierry Henry’s men still have to make progress in terms of realism. “If we want to go all the way, we’re going to have to kill our actions, not let our opponents breathe”warned the Bleuets coach, who should largely rotate his squad.
“We don’t have any margin (in the standings, editor’s note), but we have a group: some guys haven’t played yet. It’s up to them to show what they can do in the third match,” continues the 1998 world champion. Truffert, Olise, Mateta, Lacazette and Koné could thus give up their starting places to Locko, Cherki, Doué, Kalimuendo and Lepenant.
