Newcastle United are considering a loan move for a player who joined them from Manchester City in January.

Youngster Alfie Harrison joined the club from Man City at the beginning of the year and went straight to the team’s U21 side.

His impressive performances there caught the attention of manager Eddie Howe, who called up the player to the first team for Newcastle’s preseason matches.

His cameos for the Magpies have been positive and manager Howe has been impressed with what he has seen so far from the 18-year-old.

However, Newcastle are considering a loan move for the player this summer.

Howe has claimed that Trevan Sanusi will stay with the club but he failed to rule out a loan move for Harrison.

“We’ll always make that decision for the individual,” said Howe, as quoted by Newcastle World.

“Trevan [Sanusi] I can definitely say will stay with us, more from a physical perspective as he’s got a lot of growth in that area. But Alfie, we’ll make a decision on him.

“With all the young players that have been heavily involved during pre-season, I think it’s been great to expose them to the jump in level. Some will go back to the under-23s and others may stay with us.”

Before joining the Toon Army, Harrison was attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe but he preferred a move to St James’ Park.

The player has a contract with the club that will run until 2026.
