Newcastle United are monitoring a young talented defender ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, via Il Bianconero, Newcastle United are keenly monitoring 18-year-old Spanish defender Dean Huijsen. Huijsen is currently on loan at AS Roma from Juventus, and speculation suggests that negotiations for his transfer could resume once he returns to his parent club.
The outstanding promising two-footed centre-back has featured 13 times in Serie A this season with three of them being starts. He’s found his way on the scoresheet twice this term.
Newcastle are reportedly eager to secure his signature, being identified as particularly keen on acquiring him. Meanwhile, Juventus are aiming to generate at least €30 million from his sale.
With Juventus looking to conduct outgoing transfers to bolster their squad and finances, Newcastle’s interest presents a potential opportunity to fulfill both clubs’ objectives. This scenario suggests that the Magpies could play a significant role in Juventus’ summer transfer plans and potentially capitalise on the situation.

Eddie Howe is eager to add centre-backs to his squad this summer given the outrageous amount of defensive injuries they’ve suffered throughout this campaign. And in Sven Botman’s case, the Dutchman is facing even missing a couple of months into next season due to his knee ligament damage.
Adding a player like Huijsen in the summer window may at first seem questionable given his lack of experience, but he is undoubtedly one of the finest defensive prospects in Europe at this moment in time.
We’ve seen youngsters such as Elliott Anderson and Lewis Miley improve under Eddie Howe while featuring for the first team, and Huijsen could well do the same if he’s signed.
