Eddie Howe having to deal with a serious amount of Newcastle United injuries this season.

A problem that looked to be easing but now heading back the other way seemingly.

Ahead of Everton though, Eddie Howe talking about two players who will hopefully be back available very soon.

Eddie Howe on Matt Targett who had recovered from a bad hamstring injury but was missing from the squad on Saturday, despite named in the 20 man squad at Man City two weeks earlier:

“Not a big problem, he has got a little bit of tendonitis in his Achilles.

“We envisage that he should be back very soon.”

Eddie Howe on Kieran Trippier who had missed a couple of matches but who’d been expected to return for West Ham, only to be missing from Saturday’s matchday squad:

“Kieran Trippier is desperate to be involved, he knows what is at stake for us between now and the end of the season.

“His qualities are obvious.

“So we’re desperate to get him back but it has to be at the right time.

“Kieran is improving but it was a difficult injury for him – one on the calf and one that we have to be very, very careful with.

“We hoped that he would be fit in and around this [West Ham] game but we will have to wait and see how he goes this week.”

Who is likely to be available for Everton?

Suspensions

Anthony Gordon – The red card against the Hammers means he misses this match against his former team.

Sandro Tonali – The ten months ban is set to end on 27 August 2024, unless the new charges from the English FA extend that…

Definitely look to be missing due to injury

Jamaal Lascelles – Sunday has seen NUFC confirm that the injury the club captain picked up against West Ham, is a rupture to the ACL in his right knee. He will have surgery next week and is expected to be out for between six and nine months.

Nick Pope – On his way back from the shoulder injury suffered four months ago, hopefully back before the end of the season.

Lewis Miley – Picked up a back injury when away with the England under 20s.

Joelinton – Out for months with a thigh injury, might make it back in May for the final matches of this season.

Callum Wilson – Had surgery in February for a chest injury suffered at Forest away, might make it back before end of season.

Sven Botman – Had surgery last week on an ACL injury and expected to be out for between six and nine months.

Players who do look available for this Everton match

Dubravka, Krafth, Barnes, Hall, Schar, Burn, Longstaff, Bruno, Willock, Murphy, Isak, Karius, Dummett, Ritchie, White, Gillespie

Players who could possibly also make Tuesday’s matchday squad

Tino Livramento – Appeared to be a twisted ankle that forced him off on Saturday, remains to be seen if he is ruled out for this Everton match. If that’s the case, hopefully not too long out.

Kieran Trippier – Eddie Howe’s words above.

Matt Targett – Same as Trippier.

Miguel Almiron – What appeared to be a knee injury saw Miggy subbed only ten minutes after coming on against West Ham. Appears to be very unlikely he will make Everton but no official word on this yet.
