Newcastle United official announcement – 22 October 2024:

Newcastle United are delighted to announce that Anthony Gordon has signed a new long-term contract at St. James’ Park.

The 23-year-old joined the Magpies in January 2023 and has become a key part of Eddie Howe’s squad, scoring 15 goals and registering 11 assists in 74 appearances.

As well as playing European football for the first time in his career since joining the club, making six appearances in the UEFA Champions League, Anthony has also continued to impress on the international stage.

He was named Player of the Tournament at the UEFA European Under-21 Championships in summer 2023 as England emerged victorious, beating Spain 1-0 in the final.

Anthony’s performances for club and country were duly rewarded with a full international debut in March 2024 when the Three Lions hosted Brazil at Wembley – the first of seven senior caps so far – and he was part of the England squad that finished as runners-up at UEFA Euro ’24 in Germany.

Anthony said: “I just think the club’s in a great place. Since the takeover it’s just been up and up. Me and the gaffer are a perfect match in terms of style of play. I love it here.

“I’m very happy here, I like living here, the team is very suited to me – and I’m here to win a trophy. The short story is we need to win a trophy. Winning a trophy here would be unbelievable because the fans have waited so long. To be part of that team who finally does it is a massive goal of mine.

“We (my family and I) have always felt settled because Geordies are so easy-going and so welcoming, very easy to speak to and always want the best for you. It’s a very easy place to come and live, I think. I feel very connected to everyone – teammates, fans and everyone involved.”
