An official Newcastle United announcement.

The club revealing that their temporary club store will be temporarily closed today (Thursday 6 June 2024).

This is to get everything prepared for the launch of the first Adidas home shirt in a decade and a half.

That will go on sale on Friday from 8am, both at the temporary physical club store and from the NUFC online store. The club saying that the online store is also getting some ‘essential maintenance’ but I had a look at 9.15am on Thursday morning and all appears working fine.

Adidas were the club’s kit partner from 1995 to 2010 before Mike Ashley put a stop to it.

Newcastle United fans keen to see what Adidas will come up with for the 2024/25 kits.

The physical temporary club shop is opposite the Gallowgate end, just across from the Strawberry pub.

Newcastle United official announcement – 5 June 2024:

‘Our temporary club store will be closed on Thursday, 6 June while the e-commerce website will undergo some essential maintenance too.

Both will be operational from 8am on Friday.

We’ll see you there!’

The club have also launched a brand new main Newcastle United website, there are quite a few dead pages at the moment when I had a look earlier but it looks a major upgrade on what they had previously.

As for the new 2024/25 Newcastle United home shirt, I had a look yesterday at how it is priced compared to other top Premier League clubs and their 2024/25 kits…

The Mag report – 5 June 2024:

The 2024/25 Newcastle United home shirt goes on sale on Friday 7 June.

The club making an official announcement about it earlier today (Wednesday 5 June).

That announcement revealing that any 2024/25 Newcastle United home shirt bought directly from the club up to the end of August 2024, will see the club donate £5 of the sale price to the club’s official charitable arm, the Newcastle United Foundation.

The announcement also revealed what the prices will be.

With the Adidas 2024/25 Newcastle United shirt going on sale at:

Adult replica shirts – £80

Junior replica shirts – £55

Authentic replica match shirts – £110

I noticed a fair few negative comments online about the new shirt price from some Newcastle United fans and so decided to see what our ‘Premier League big seven’ rivals were charging in comparison for their replica 2024/25 shirts. So here below I have named the kit manufacturer and given the three prices in order of adult, junior, authentic just like the players wear…

Newcastle United (Adidas) – £80 adult, £55 youth, £110 just like the players

Tottenham (Nike) – £85 adult, £65 youth, £125 just like the players

Arsenal (Adidas) – £80 adult, £55 youth, £110 just like the players

Liverpool (Nike) – £80 adult, £60 youth, £125 just like the players

Manchester City (Puma) – £80 adult, £60 youth, £110 just like the players

Chelsea haven’t launched their new home shirt or said how much it will be when they do

Manchester United the same position as Chelsea, nothing yet.

However, looking at what the two clubs charged for the 2023/24 home shirts, that gives us a very good guide. Last season Man U charged £80 for an adult replica home shirt. Chelsea charging £79.95 for their adult replica shirts.

Fair to say I reckon that both Man U and Chelsea will be putting those prices up for their new 2024/25 shirts, charging more than Newcastle United are for theirs.

It is the trend, all major clubs charge more and more, year on year.

As an illustration with Newcastle United, the 2022/23 home shirt cost £65, that went up to £70 for the 2023/24 one, now £80 for the 2024/25 one.

Nobody pretends they are cheap but Newcastle United charging the joint lowest prices compared to the ‘big six’….

Newcastle United official announcement – 5 June 2024:

Newcastle United will donate £5 from every 2024/25 adidas home shirt that it sells by the end of August to award-winning charity Newcastle United Foundation.

For adult shirts, the donation will be the net of VAT value of £5 of the purchase price, which is £4.17 per shirt, while a full £5 will be donated for junior shirts that are VAT exempt.

The announcement follows a recommendation from the club’s Fan Advisory Board (FAB) for the club to consider a community beneficiary as part of its new in-house retail operations.

Newcastle United Foundation is an independent registered charitable organisation that uses the power of football to change thousands of lives across the region each year. It supports some of the North East’s most vulnerable families, and helps to motivate and inspire people to be active, to learn new skills, to be more employable and to reach their potential.

The donation will be exclusive to any 2024/25 adidas home shirt bought directly through the club’s store or online store, shop.newcastleunited.com, and will be donated automatically following the purchase.

The club will launch the highly anticipated home shirt at 8am on Friday, 7th June, kicking off a new multi-year partnership that reunites adidas and Newcastle United for the first time in more than a decade.

Adult replica shirts will be priced in line with adidas’ recommended retail price of £80, while junior shirts will be priced at £55. Authentic match shirts will be priced at £110.

Darren Eales, CEO at Newcastle United, said: “Reuniting with adidas and launching an iconic new home kit together is an incredibly exciting moment, and we are looking forward to seeing supporters around the world wearing it with pride.

“When we discussed our new retail operations with the club’s Fan Advisory Board, they asked us to consider how we might be able to use this important moment to benefit our community and I want to thank them for inspiring this idea.

“By coming direct to the club to buy a home shirt, our fans will be playing a huge part in supporting the incredible work Newcastle United Foundation does across the North East every day.

“Donations from home shirts will directly benefit programmes across the community, helping the Foundation to continue providing meaningful opportunities that really do change thousands of lives.”

Steve Beharall, CEO at Newcastle United Foundation, said: “On behalf of Newcastle United Foundation, I want to thank the club and its Fan Advisory Board for this incredible gesture.

“The Foundation exists to change lives, but we can only achieve that outcome because of independent funding – and that includes the generosity of partners and supporters.

“The money you donate by buying your home shirts from the club directly this summer will have a huge impact on what we do. This contribution will allow us to engage and inspire even more children, young adults, families and older generations to achieve their potential.

“We pledge to make this funding stretch as far as we can so that we can use the power of football and Newcastle United to change thousands of lives.”
