Loris Karius will not continue as a Newcastle United player beyond this season.
That’s according to a recent report from Football Insider, who claims the German goalkeeper will leave Newcastle in the summer.
Refusing the 30-year-old the chance to stay at St. James’ Park, Eddie Howe has opted against offering the former Liverpool keeper, whose current deal expires in June, a new contract.
Newcastle United won’t renew Loris Karius contract
Signed as a cost-effective emergency keeper following Nick Pope’s long-term shoulder injury, Karius was expected to come in and make the numbers up, and while he hasn’t had much to do, his only two appearances have ended in disappointment.
Karius in action during the Carabao Cup final.Tasked with stopping Manchester United during last season’s Carabao Cup final, Karius was once again on the losing side after the Magpies fell to a 2-0 Wembley defeat. The German’s only other outing came away against Arsenal last month — a game Newcastle lost 4-1.

It hasn’t just been Karius who has flattered to deceive though. Collectively, Newcastle have endured a tough campaign and Howe is now set to overhaul his squad ahead of next season. Unfortunately for Karius though, the German is not expected to make the cut and will become a free agent for the second time in as many years.
