It has now been reported that Lewis Hall is in line to be named in this next England squad.

Lee Carsley named his third England squad on Thursday (7 November) and Talksport say that their information is that the interim boss has been closely following the 20 year old’s progress.

Lewis Hall is a regular for the England Under 21s but with such a dearth of obvious left-backs, it looks a no-brainer to introduce the Newcastle United star to the senior set up as soon as possible.

Tino Livramento is expected to make it three senior England squad call-ups in a row when this November squad is named on Thursday.

Performances against Chelsea and Arsenal in the past week have been perfectly timed to give even more justification, if it was needed, for both Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall to be included, when Lee Carsley names his squad to face Greece (14 November) away and the Republic of Ireland at home (17 November).

Talksport report – Tuesday 5 November 2024:

‘Newcastle defender Lewis Hall has put himself in contention for a first senior England call-up to solve the Three Lions’ left-back crisis.

The 20-year-old Under-21 international has been one of Newcastle’s standout performers this season, including an impressive display shackling Bukayo Saka during Saturday’s 1-0 win over Arsenal at St James’ Park.

talkSPORT understands England interim-boss Lee Carsley has been tracking Hall’s progress ahead of next week’s crunch Nations League double header with Greece and the Republic of Ireland.

England realistically need to win in Athens to avoid finishing second in the group and going into an unwanted play-off round in March.

Carsley has been criticised for not naming a left-back in his first two squads and with Luke Shaw still sidelined, Hall, who was handed his Chelsea debut by incoming England head coach Thomas Tuchel, has put himself in pole position to answer the call.’
