This summer is set to be a hugely important one for Eddie Howe and Newcastle United.

Thanks to Man United’s win in the FA Cup final, it means that the Magpies will now not play any European football next season, Chelsea taking their place in the Europa Conference League.

Though that might be seen as a huge disappointment, given how a Champions League campaign last season really took its toll on the club with injuries to many key players, it could actually end up being a blessing.

Newcastle need commitment from Tosin Adarabioyo

There is an issue of trying to attract players of course, and dependant on their motivation, they may decide not to move to the North East giants if there’s no prospect of testing themselves against Europe’s best.

With Financial Fair Play in mind too, Newcastle may not be offering top-end wages, however, they are clearly a club that are going places and under the Saudi Public Investment Fund, are being run so much better than under the Mike Ashley regime.

Tosin Adarabioyo is one of Newcastle’s key targets this summer

They do need to get players in through the door of course, whilst simultaneously stopping any of their big stars from leaving – for FFP reasons or otherwise.

One player that they are known to have targeted is Tosin Adarabioyo.

The 26-year-old centre-back is available on a free transfer after letting his contract with Fulham run down, but as talkSPORT note, the Magpies, who have been long-term admirers of the player, want him to hurry up and make a decision.

That could have something to do with the fact that both Chelsea and Man United are also credited with an interest as well as Newcastle clearly needing reinforcements in their back line.

Although the transfer window doesn’t officially open for a couple of weeks, Howe will surely be hoping that his club’s persistence will eventually pay off.
