Interesting to see the situation now, when it comes to who is most likely to become the next England manager.

Bookies and punters having reacted to Thursday night at Wembley…

Lee Carsley had overseen a very good start in ‘interim’ charge, England having won 2-0 against both the Republic of Ireland and Finland in the September internationals.

Lee Carsley looking a certainty to get the job on a permanent basis, with The FA having bottled it when it came to naming Gareth Southgate’s replacement, refusing to name Lee Carsley, or anybody else, as permanent boss, instead giving it to Carsley on an ‘interim’ basis, when in reality clearly a six game interview.

September to November seeing all six Nations League group matches played out and so long as England did the business on the pitch, then it appeared obvious that Lee Carsley would get the job on a permanent basis.

With England facing Greece, Finland and Republic of Ireland, home and away, surely it was his for the taking….

Well, last night saw a shock 2-1 away win for Greece at Wembley and now who knows what will happen?

The bookies and punters having reacted to last night’s defeat.

These are now the best prices generally available on Friday morning across the various bookies as to who will be the next permanent England manager (in brackets what the odds were back in July in the aftermath of Gareth Southgate’s resignation):

7/4 Lee Carsley (12/1)

5/2 Thomas Tuchel (33/1)

8/1 Eddie Howe (7/2)

8/1 Graham Potter (5/4)

8/1 Pep Guardiola (20/1)

25/1 Frank Lampard (33/1)
