There have been all kinds of major wrestling stories over the last few months but the biggest may be a lawsuit alleging Vince McMahon of sexual assault and sex trafficking against Janel Grant, a former WWE employee. The case has been slowly getting started and now we are seeing what could be a very major change in the entire process going forward.

According to Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, WWE, McMahon and fellow defendant John Laurinaitis have filed a collective proposal in the case with various deadlines to submit new filings. The filing also mentions that WWE is expected to file a motion compelling arbitration, meaning a trial would be avoided. The proposed motion would have to be filed by May 14. There is no word on when a ruling could be made on the proposal.
All four parties in Grant v. WWE, McMahon, Laurinaitis collectively filed a proposed stipulation and order with various deadline dates the parties have to submit filings.

This is going to take time. Check out some of the better things WWE has been doing lately in the meantime:
Opinion: I’m not going to pretend to be a legal expert of any kind but it doesn’t seem surprising that WWE would want to avoid a trial. There is a very good chance that they are going to do everything they can to settle and if Grant is ok with that (which is a big if), I hope she gets every penny she can. The company played a big role in allowing that kind of environment to continue and while the ownership has changed, granted deserves something for what she went through there.
