At 32, while recovering from left knee surgery, Neymar still dreams of playing in the next 2026 World Cup with Brazil.
It was in tears that Neymar left the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, aware that he may not play in the next World Cup… But the former star player of PSG, who celebrated his 32nd birthday on February 5 , does not plan to retire before the 2026 World Cup organized in the United States, Canada and Mexico (the competition will be played in the US from the quarter-finals).
Gerard Piqué spoke about the ambition of his former Barça teammate and friend: “He has the next World Cup in mind. I feel very motivated. He has enormous talent. I believe Brazil should be very proud to have a person like Ney, he leads the team and plays at a level that few players have reached in history.”.
Neymar, soon to resume?
Organizer of the Kings League, a 7-a-side football competition between YouTubers and former players, Piqué has recruited Neymar, who will be in charge of one of the teams in the next Kings World Cup, an international tournament with 32 participants scheduled for Mexico from 26 May to June 8. The number 10 Auriverde will not compete in the competition as a player because he is obviously recovering.
Arriving at Al-Hilal last summer, Neymar was struck down by a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and underwent surgery on November 2. He will resume with his Saudi team next summer and will probably then return to the Brazilian national team. The top scorer in the history of the Seleçao played the first four matches of the World Cup qualifiers in the Amsud zone last fall.
