Neymar’s relatives allowed Daniel Alves to avoid a heavier prison sentence, after the former Barça man was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for rape.

After more than a year of incarceration while awaiting trial, Dani Alves learned of his sentence this Thursday. Found guilty of a sexual assault on a young woman, which occurred in a nightclub on the evening of December 30, 2022, the former FC Barcelona player was sentenced to four and a half years in prison. A conviction which he immediately appealed. However, this could have been more significant, but thanks in particular to the intervention of the Neymar clan, Daniel Alves was able to reduce his sentence.

The information was mentioned several times by the Brazilian media. To reduce the duration of his detention, Daniel Alves would therefore have benefited from financial assistance from Neymar’s family, to pay 150,000 euros to the court (which will redistribute this sum to the victim, unconditionally). Enough to make this same court say that the player to participate in the “reparation of harm” with this hard and fast payment. A ” mitigating circumstance ” which was therefore credited to Alves.

Legal advice to the rescue

According to UOL, the Neymar clan did not stop there in its assistance to Daniel Alves since the Brazilian media specified that Gustavo Xisto, a lawyer who worked for many years for Neymar Senior’s companies, had been made available to him. ex of Barça and PSG to help him defend himself. The latter could therefore still have a little work if he were to be called upon in the context of the appeal made by Alves.

Until a new date is announced for this appeal trial, Daniel Alves will therefore continue his stay in prison. He would have to wait several months before being able to present new defense arguments.
