A non-profit organisation, the Everlasting Fountain Welfare Initiative, has undertaken a community outreach programme aimed at alleviating poverty and self-reliance in Magboro, Ogun State.

According to a statement made available to our correspondent on Tuesday, the event, held at the New Covenant Church, saw the distribution of food items and training of residents in fishing, snail rearing, and small-scale farming, including the cultivation of tomatoes, peppers, and vegetables.

The foodstuffs distributed included rice, garri, fish, noodles, tomato paste, and vegetable oil.

Additionally, beneficiaries received clothing and footwear to enhance their quality of life.

The founder of the Everlasting Fountain Welfare Initiative, Abiola Adeniyi, expressed her commitment to the community, stating, “We are deeply touched by the plight of our people and are committed to making a positive impact on their lives. This initiative is just the beginning of our efforts to create sustainable change in the community.”

The statement added that beyond immediate relief, the initiative focused on long-term empowerment by offering training in sustainable livelihoods.

A widow and a beneficiary of the initiative identified as Bimpe, expressed her gratitude, stating, “I am overwhelmed by this gesture of kindness.

“These food items will feed my family for at least a week. I am also excited about the farming training; it gives me hope for a brighter future.”

Also, a volunteer, Samuel Olayemi, highlighted the event’s impact, saying, “Seeing the smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries is incredibly rewarding. It’s fulfilling to know that we are making a difference in people’s lives.”
