Nic Nemeth has revealed his feelings about the crowd “ruining” his match with Seth Rollins at Extreme Rules 2018.

In the main event of that pay-per-view, Nemeth (as Dolph Ziggler) put the Intercontinental title on the line. He battled Seth Rollins in a 30-minute Iron Man match, a rarity in the company at that time. It was also the first time that title had gone on last on PPV in 17 years.

While this was supposed to be a huge match it is largely remembered for how the crowd reacted to it. The countdown clock was put on the screen, leading to the crowd joining in with the final ten seconds like it was a Royal Rumble match.

This put both men off their game. WWE even removed the clock from the screen, leading fans to boo, chanting “Where’s the clock?”. They even continued doing random countdowns. Both men have been quiet about the match over the years, but Nic Nemeth has finally shared his thoughts about the controversial match.

Nic Nemeth On The Crowd At Extreme Rules 2018

On Twitter, Nic Nemeth replied to a Tweet asking about the infamous match. The former WWE Superstar noted how it could’ve been a huge moment, but the crowd had other plans.

“Around this time crowds were openly begging for anything that wasn’t Roman in the main event, especially the intercontinental title. They got their wish & two very capable competitors. Could have been a huge moment for those of us not permanently in the gold circle, but the crowd took over, instead. A lot of that is on me for not being able to get them back, but it really didn’t matter this was their time to shine, sadly.”

In a second Tweet, he replied to a question about if the clock on the screen contributed to the fan’s behavior. Nic Nemeth said that many options were tried but they simply couldn’t get the crowd on side for the bout.
