Nice supporters are prohibited from traveling to Nantes this Sunday for the 8th day of Ligue 1, due to the risk of clashes between fans of the two clubs.

OGC Nice supporters will not be able to attend the match against FC Nantes this Sunday at La Beaujoire, during the 8th day of Ligue 1. The Ministry of the Interior has decided to prohibit their travel due to “real and serious risks of confrontation” between fans of the two clubs.

This decision follows persistent tensions, exacerbated by the tragic death of a Nantes supporter, Maxime, during a brawl in December 2023 before a match between the two teams.

A ban in tribute to Maxime

The decree, published this Friday in the Official Journal, prohibits “any movement of Nice supporters” between the Alpes-Maritimes and Nantes from zero hour to midnight this Sunday. This measure aims to prevent new incidents and honor the memory of Maxime, who died in a context of violence surrounding a match between the two clubs.
