Already leaving last summer, then approached this winter, Jean-Clair Todibo had finally made the choice to finish a third full year on the Côte d’Azur (editor’s note: he had been loaned 5 months before his definitive signing in 2021). Pillar of the best defense in Ligue 1 in 2021-22 and 2023-24 (second in 2022-23), the former Barcelona player regularly answered the call in Nice, becoming a French international and one of the best defenders in the championship.
Enough to make him a highly sought-after player on the transfer window, especially since despite a contract that runs until June 2027, the Gym’s number 6 has an exit voucher. Proof of his imminent departure is the active search for his replacement by Florian Maurice (Teden Mengi is notably targeted). But the French international defender still needs to find a buyer. Given his profile, his experience, his recent performances, but also and above all his price, Jean-Clair Todibo is a significant investment, even for big European clubs.
Juve and AC Milan on the lookout, the Premier League prepares its offensive
The transfer window officially opened a few days ago and it’s still long. So much so that the clubs looking (or who will be looking for a central defender) are in the starting blocks. As we revealed last month, Bayer Leverkusen (in case Tapsoba leaves) and Borussia Dortmund are keeping an eye on Todibo.
But it is in Italy and England that things are currently the hottest for the player trained at TFC. As for our transalpine neighbors, Juventus is very interested in the Nice defender and has already made contact with the player’s entourage, but they need to free up some cash to really go on the offensive. According to our information, AC Milan (who were already following the player this winter) are not giving up on Todibo and have taken information, but are waiting to see Tomori or Thiaw leave to really go on the offensive.
In England, West Ham have shown interest, as have Aston Villa. A club whose name has not been released is also in the running. The end of the Euro and the resumption of training in most European clubs should speed up the file. A necessity both for Nice who must turn the page on Todibo and for the player himself who must be able to begin his preparation with his new club as soon as possible.
